The Lidl Setúbal Triathlon 2024 long triathlon race, a sporting challenge consisting of more than one hundred kilometers divided into swimming, cycling and running segments, takes place on April 14, with a record participation of more than a thousand athletes.
The eighth edition of the competition, already sold out, organized by HMS Sports and Setúbal City Council, with 1,9 kilometers of swimming, 90 of cycling and 21,1 of running, provides all the information on the official page of the sporting event, accessible on this link.
The Lidl Setúbal Triathlon starts at Parque Urbano de Albarquel with the swimming segment, followed by cycling, in two laps of 45 kilometers between Avenida Luísa Todi, the industrial zone of Mitrena and Serra da Arrábida, and the run, in four laps, which ends at Largo José Afonso.
The competition reserves prizes for the top three men and women classified in the absolute, as well as by age groups, for the first three teams and relays, with all triathletes who complete the challenge receiving a finisher's medal.
The Setubal race is part of the new HMS Triathlon Series project, along with another long triathlon competition, debuting in Sines on September 29, 2024, in a kind of championship, with classifications and benefits for triathletes registered in both events.
TRAFFIC CUTS
The holding of the Lidl Setúbal Triathlon 2024 leads, on the 13th and 14th of April, to road closures on various roads in the city and at different periods.
Between 07:00 on the 13th and 18:00 on the 14th, Avenida José Mourinho is closed between Travessa Casa da Saúde and the entrance to the Albarquel Urban Park, as well as in the east/west direction in the section between the Casa da Rasca and Casa da Saúde and the Albarquel Urban Park.
On the 14th, between 07:00 am and 13:30 pm, the sporting event leads to the closure of Rua Amália Rodrigues, Avenida Jaime Rebelo and Avenida Luísa Todi, the latter in the east/west direction, between José Pereira Martins streets and Amália Rodrigues.
On this day, during the same time period, the streets José Pereira Martins are also closed, only in the north/south direction), Marques da Costa and Herdade, in this case in the section between Rua Mártires de Pátria and Avenida Luísa Todi, as well as all intersections leading to this avenue.
As an alternative for circulation, motorists must use the Bairro da Saboaria, where the entry and exit of residents is safeguarded, in case of emergency and duly accompanied by police entities, along with the Bairro do Viso, through the streets Batalhas do Viso, Quinta Alves da Silva and Brancanes.
The Lidl Setúbal Triathlon 2024 also involves, on the 14th, between 08:00 and 13:30, the closure of Avenida Baía de Setúbal, in the section between Avenida Jaime Rebelo and Estrada da Mitrena, in the Eurominas area, as well as all intersections with these roads.
National Road 10-8, between Avenida Baía de Setúbal and the Alto da Guerra roundabout, is also closed, along with all intersections encompassing these roads, with, in this case, the circulation alternative provided by National Road 10 and the Manteigas Road.
National Road 10-4, between streets Amália Rodrigues and Orlando Curto (Praia da Figueirinha), is also closed, as well as Estrada da Rasca, in this case between Rua Orlando Curto and Estrada Regional 379-1, which serves as an alternative circulation (higher road) along with Estrada Nacional 10-4, to the north.
The road closures include, on the 14th, between 06:00 and 18:00, the south lane of Avenida Luísa Todi, in the section between the streets of Cordoaria and Teotónio Banha, along with Avenida José Mourinho, between the Parque Urbano de Albarquel and Rua João de Deus, as well as all intersections with these roads.
From 07:00 am to 13:30 pm, also on the 14th, the north side of Avenida Luísa Todi is closed between Rotunda das Sardinhas and Rua José Pereira Martins, with alternative circulation provided by Rotunda das Sardinhas, Avenida Luísa Todi (east) and Estrada da Grace.
The holding of this long triathlon competition also implies the banning of public parking on Avenida Luísa Todi, between Rotunda das Sardinhas and Rua Amália Rodrigues, as well as on Avenida José Mourinho, in this case between Parque Urbano de Albarquel and Rua João de God.
