On the day that marked the 116th anniversary of the creation of the Denomination of Origin for Moscatel de Setúbal, the mayor of Setúbal yesterday praised the importance of Moscatel for the winemaking affirmation of the Setúbal peninsula in the country and in the world.
At the “Moscatdinner” dinner, organized by the Escola de Hotelaria de Setúbal, with the support of the municipality, André Martins highlighted the importance of Moscatel as a product of excellence in the region and that, over the years, the offer has been diversifying , with the commitment of local producers to superior quality production.
The director of the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Setúbal, Helena Lucas, welcomed the initiative to honor Moscatel, stressing that the educational establishment and its students are strengthened with innovative experiences using products from the region.
The dinner was attended by three dozen people who signed up for the initiative and the bold menu, made by students of the Hotel School, was specially prepared and harmonized with Moscatel de Setúbal.
In addition to the dinner, the Moscatel Day celebrations initiative included the awarding of prizes to the winners of the cocktails from the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Setúbal, who presented innovative proposals using this liqueur wine.
Moscatel de Setúbal is produced on the Setúbal Peninsula and the winemaking history of the region is ancient, dating back to the 1907th century. The United Kingdom was mainly responsible for spreading this type of liqueur wine and, in XNUMX, the demarcation of the area was approved, with the creation of the Denomination of Origin of Setúbal.
