Equipment installed in the house where Joana Luísa da Gama, the poet's former wife, died in 2014, lived, who donated the property, in her will, to the Sebastião da Gama Cultural Association.
The memory house, located at 105 Rua José Augusto Coelho, in Vila Nogueira de Azeitão, has, on the lower floor, a timeline with dates and important information about Sebastião da Gama and Joana Luísa, in addition to photographs.
There is also an exhibition with various articles and personal objects belonging to the poet, such as a leather briefcase, a pen, or a mechanical pencil, as well as academic tapes for the completion of the degree in Romance Philology at the Faculty of Arts in Lisbon, with dedications and signatures by several colleagues, such as David Mourão-Ferreira, Luís Amaro and Andrée Crabbé Rocha.
The tie most used by Sebastião da Gama, an agenda and list of pocket contacts and honorary diplomas given by the Municipality of Setúbal to the poet and Joana Luísa can also be appreciated by the public in this exhibition, which regularly replaces the items on display.
In the Documentation Center, located on the first floor, there are several literary works, among them the first, unpublished version of the poem “For the dream is that we go”, with most of the articles found on an English shelf sent to the Consulate. of Portugal in Liverpool by Manuel Fran Paxeco, later donated by Maria Rosa Pacheco Machado, granddaughter of the journalist, writer and professor from Setubal, to Associação Cultural Sebastião da Gama.
The inauguration of the space, on April 10, 2021, was attended by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
