The Deputy Mayor of Setúbal, Carla Guerreiro, considers that the distinction obtained by Rota do Pitéu in the 2023 Five Star Regions Award, handed over on Saturday, in Idanha-a-Nova, proves the external recognition of the municipality's gastronomy.
Created in 2020 by the Municipality of Setúbal to promote the catering sector and provide an original offer, Rota do Pitéu presents, annually in August, in taverns, petisqueiras and seafood restaurants, traditional and innovative proposals for snacks based on products from the region, with a fixed value.
The event was the most voted brand by consumers in the category of “Gastronomy Promotion Projects” for which it received the 2023 Five Star Regions Award, the same happening with Serra da Arrábida, in “Serras | Montanhas”, with fried cuttlefish, in “Cozinha Tradicional”, and with pies from Azeitão, in “Doçaria Regional”.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday night at Porta Norte in Idanha-a-Nova.
The Cinco Estrelas Regions Award measures the degree of satisfaction that products, services and brands of Portuguese origin give their users.
Natural resources, gastronomy, art and culture, heritage and other regional areas of national reference were evaluated in a market study, in which consumers identified, for each district and autonomous region, what they consider extraordinary at various levels.
In 2023, 939 brands were evaluated, with 11 brands and 5 regional icons being the winners in the Setúbal district. The evaluation was made by 436 thousand consumers.
