The old Chapel of S. Sebastião was founded around 1490, with the contribution of fishermen and other devotees from the village of Setúbal. This religious building was located in the center of the current Largo do Miradouro; with the earthquake of 1755, it was badly damaged, eventually being demolished between 1849 and 1857.
In the old Ermida, the parish of S. Sebastião was established, created by archiepiscopal charter of 1553 and remained there until 1821, when, due to the degradation of the temple, it was transferred to the Igreja dos Grilos and, later, to the church of the extinct Convent of S. Domingos, currently the parish's headquarters.
In the church, the decoration of the interior stands out, in the neo-classical style.
