The Salmonete Week, an initiative of the Municipality of Setúbal, takes place between the 21st and 30th with special menus in four dozen restaurants, in addition to a commented tasting with wine harmonization and a pedagogical workshop.
Organized under the municipal brand “Setúbal Terra de Peixe”, the Salmonete Week, the sixth and last gastronomic week of the year in Setúbal, has the support of Docapesca, the Setúbal Hotel and Tourism School and António Saramago Vinhos.
The initiative aims to be an incentive to promote tourism in the region and boost local catering, in addition to presenting a pedagogical aspect, which recalls the importance of the species in the history and gastronomy of the city, with the red mullet from Setúbal being famous throughout the world. country.
In addition to the traditional grilled red mullet with liver sauce, the 41 restaurants participating in the initiative present proposals such as red mullet wrap, tomato mullet, red mullet consommé and sea bream with chilli and pickled figs, or red mullet with Spanish sauce and parsley powder, accompanied by tagliatelle with wild mushrooms, red onion caviar and miso tile.
The first associated activity is a pedagogical workshop based on the short story “História da Baleia”, by António Sérgio, to be held from 15:30 pm on 22 October at the Municipal Library of Setúbal with the aim of making known the Red Salmonete, namely the characteristics, where they live and what they feed on.
The activity, aimed at people over five years of age, is free, but has a limited number of participants and requires prior registration until October 18, to be here.
On the closing day of the Mullet Week, October 30, the “Probable Encounters” activity includes, from 17:30 pm, a guided tour of the Setúbal Hotel and Tourism School and the Municipal Gallery of 11, in the same building, and a red mullet tasting commented by chef Luís Alves, accompanied by a wine pairing with Saramago Vinhos.
Participation in this activity is also free, but with a limited number of people, so prior registration is also required until October 26, which must be done here.
