The Sado Bay Regatta in Baths and Unusuals 2023, initially scheduled for the morning of September 17th, was postponed until October 1st, due to the forecast of adverse weather conditions.
The ninth edition of the event organized by the Setúbal City Council in partnership with the Academia Rugby Clube de Setúbal, which takes place at the Albarquel Urban Park, maintains the times already announced.
The design of the vessels, mandatory by participating teams with a maximum of three members, at the event location, with materials of choice, as long as they are floating, begins at 08:30 am.
Boat crews must wear a life jacket and wear it throughout the race, which takes place from 11:30 am, on a course in front of the Albarquel Urban Park.
At the end of the Regatta da Baía do Sado in Banheiras and Insólitos, all boats must be dismantled by the competing teams, with the materials used in construction being deposited in recycling containers available on site.
Prizes are awarded to the teams with the most unusual and most ecological boats, which float and sail, even if just a little, and to the fastest boats of private teams and the associative movement, as long as they finish the race, with a consolation prize for the last vessel to finish the route.
