Exhibitions, gastronomy, musical entertainment, nautical activities, educational workshops and awareness actions are attractions of the Maritime Traditions Exhibition, to be held in Setúbal between May 31st and June 18th.
The program, organized by the União das Freguesias de Setúbal with the City Council of Setúbal, on May 31, National Fisherman's Day, with the laying of flowers, at 10:30 am, at the Memorial to the Disappeared Setubal Fishermen, at the Cemitério de Nossa Senhora da Piedade , an initiative carried out with Associação Família do Mar.
From the 31st, in the Urban Park of Albarquel, there will be an exhibition of fishing tackle, sea crafts, maritime candles, marine workshops and maritime traditions and the Blue School project. The exhibition, opening at 18 pm, can be visited until June 00, from 18 am to 09 pm.
The urban leisure space on the city's waterfront, epicenter of the celebrations, also hosts the gastronomic show "Petiscos com Sabor a Mar", open from 11:00 am to 22:00 pm, which is accompanied by a musical entertainment program with concerts from Sunday to Thursday on Fridays at 18:30 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays at 20:00 pm.
The musical animation, with eclectic shows for all audiences, starts on May 31st, at 18 pm, with the performance of the group Cantares do Sado, followed, at the same time, by Carla Tecla and Joana Tecla, at 30, Folk Fado , 1, Zé Zambujo & Pedro Carvalho, 4, Et Toi Michel, 5.
The concert programme, starting at 18 pm, also reserves Tiny Giant, at 30, and Os Massacotes, 7, Jorge Nice, at 8, Os Amigos do Xico da Cana, at 11, DJ Pedro Monchique, at 12, Vasco Fernando, on the 13th, Renato Sousa and Federica Gallus, on the 14th, and Os Alcorrazes, on the 15th.
The musical poster of the Maritime Traditions Exhibition, with a total of 18 free shows, also reserves a set of concerts scheduled for 20 pm with performances by Old Brand, on 00 June, Abel Geada Trio, on 2, fados, on 3, Flickin'Throught, at 9, Os Metralha, at 10, and The Bossa Alibi, at 16.
The celebrations organized in partnership with the associative movement also include the “Famílias do Mar” photographic exhibition, opening on May 31, at 18 pm, in the public space on Avenida José Mourinho, next to the Fisherman's Dock, where it is open until 00 pm of June.
The Maritime Traditions Exhibition also features, from June 1st to 16th, from 09:30 am to 16:30 pm, in the Urban Park of Albarquel, with a set of marine education, nautical and maritime traditions workshops aimed at primary schools of the first cycle of the territory of the Union of Parishes of Setúbal.
The event promotes awareness-raising actions on the consumption of fish, which take place on the 2nd at the 2nd of April Market, the 6th at the Livramento Market, the 13th at the Rio Azul Market and the 16th at the Conceição Market, always between 09:00 am and at 12:30.
On 3, 6 and 8, in the Urban Park of Albarquel, there are, respectively, activities for users of the Community Center of the União das Freguesias de Setúbal, the Espaço MaiorIdade of the Parish Council of São Sebastião, and for seniors of the União das Freguesias de Setúbal and the parish of São Sebastião, always from 10 am to 00 pm.
On the 4th, sea baptisms take place, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 15:00 pm to 16:30 pm, in the Urban Park of Albarquel, and the procession in honor of Senhor Jesus do Bonfim, at 17:00 pm, on a route between the Convent of Jesus and the Jardim da Beira-Mar, to the image of Nossa Senhora do Cais.
Also noteworthy is a mass in honor of fishermen, on the 11th, at 11 am, at the Church of São Sebastião, for a nautical safety awareness workshop, on the 30th, at 17:10 am, and for the traditional Rowing Boat Race, on the 00th , also at 18:10 am, both in Parque Urbano de Albarquel.
The celebrations include two social lunches, both in the Urban Park of Albarquel, the first on the 11th, with the Sapadores de Setúbal Firefighters Family, from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm, while the fishing community arranges a meeting for the 18th, at 13:00 pm.
