The Festas de Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Troia end with the most awaited moment of the program, with the holding of the river candle, on August 15, in which dozens of vessels decked out between Caldeira and Setúbal participate.
The traditional festivities of the fishing community, which take place between August 10 and 15, organized by the Nossa Senhora de Troia Festival Commission and the support of the Municipality of Setúbal, resume their usual program after two years of conditioning due to the pandemic.
The first three days of the festivities are filled with the holding of the triduum in honor of the patron saint, always starting at 21:30 pm, in the Church of São Sebastião, in Setúbal.
On the 13th of August, Saturday, at 08:00, the dawn is given in Setúbal and, at 15:00, there is a mass for the soul of the deceased seafarers in the Church of São Sebastião, where, at 15:50, the procession leaves for Troia, accompanied by the band from Sociedade Musical Capricho Setubalense and the Banda Musical Charranga, from Sarilhos Grandes.
With the festivities already concentrated in the Caldeira area, in Troia, the fourth day of the program is completed with a procession of candles along the beach, at 21:30, and a dance with the group Contraponto, at 22:00.
On the 14th, at 08:00, the dawn is given in Troia and during the morning, starting at 10:30, there is a mass, followed by a procession along the beach, accompanied by the Charranga Musical Band.
At 16:00 pm, the fun on the beach begins and an hour later the decked boat competition begins.
The night program has a dance animated by the singer João Carlos, starting at 22 pm, and with fireworks at midnight.
The August 15th holiday begins with a mass for the deceased seafarers and their families at 10:00 am, followed by fun on the beach, from 11:00 am, and the distribution of prizes for the decorated boats contest, scheduled for 11:30 am.
The river candle, which carries the image of Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Troia back to Setúbal, leaves the Caldeira at 17:45.
