The event organized by the Sado Parish Council in partnership with the Setúbal City Council, with artistic direction by Joana Negrão, provides a set of free participation activities, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of preserving cultural customs and traditions and safeguarding heritage and environmental sustainability.
Traditional music and dance shows, crafts and gastronomy are highlighted at the Salicornia Festival, which also promotes intergenerational meetings in activities such as pottery, weaving and creative percussion workshops, which showcase the region's cultural and natural heritage.
The program includes concerts on the 5th with the groups Cant'a3Vozes and Vozes da União, which present the tradition of polyphonic singing, at 16:30 pm, and with Galandum Galundaina, a reference project in traditional Mirandese music, with a performance scheduled for 21:30 pm.
Singer-songwriter and accordionist Celina da Piedade and violinist Ana Santos join forces on stage to provide a folk dance with dancing by the Faralhão Children's Dance and Song Group, on the 6th, at 17:30 pm.
This will be followed at 19pm by the performance of the No Mazurka Band, which invites the audience to dance to the sound of traditional Portuguese music, with a combination of acoustic instruments, such as the campaniça, bagpipes, three-hole flutes and various percussion instruments.
Traditional games and activities, guided tours of the salt marsh, sensory experiences and traditional tales complete the program of the Salicornia Festival – Sado Traditions.
