1976, THE EVOLUTION OF CARNATIONS
Opera with a small live orchestra, directed by Jorge Salgueiro, with Vítor Rua on guitar. Interpretation by the Setúbal Opera Company, Setúbal Voz Choir and Setúbal Contemporary Dance Academy. Event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.
Plot
72-74: Eulália and Vicente study at college. Eulália's father, a large landowner, assumes the costs of Vicente's studies and entrusts him with watching over Eulália. Vicente also becomes an informant for PIDE, without Eulália knowing. They have very different reactions to police charges and censorship.
April 25, 74: They meet fortuitously at the Carmo gate.
74-75: Vicente returns to law school, with a luxury car and notable signs of wealth.
75-76: In Law, Vicente is once again one of the brightest students. He is invited to join a group of the best students, advising constitutionalists in supporting the Constituent Assembly, for the preparation of the new Constitution.
76-77: In Letters, Eulália presents the thesis: “The goddess Diana, the Dianthus caryophyllus (also known as carnations) and the Constitution of 76″. At the exit, she is met by a convertible covered in carnations, driven by Vicente.
