The eighth edition of the Setúbal Open, a tournament on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit eligible for the ATP world rankings, runs until September 24th at the Clube de Ténis de Setúbal, with the participation of around 70 professional tennis players.
Organized by the Setúbal Tennis Club, with the support of the City Council, the RE/MAX Lounge Setúbal Open 2023, which has a monetary prize of 25 thousand dollars, is played in men's singles and doubles variants.
The doubles final of the tournament, organized for the eighth consecutive year by the Seútbal Tennis Club, will be played on the afternoon of the 23rd, Saturday, while the singles final is scheduled for the morning of the 24th, with the semi-finals of this aspect taking place the day before, in the morning.
The qualifying phase, which began on the 17th – with most of the matches taking place on indoor courts due to bad weather – will run until Tuesday the 19th, when the main stage of the competition also begins to be played, which has the Future category.
Of the approximately 70 tennis players present in the singles variant, 32 compete in the main table, 24 of them with direct entry based on the ranking, in addition to the eight best from the qualifying tournament. The doubles table includes 16 tennis players.
Frederico Ferreira da Silva, the national number two and 229th player in the ATP ranking, leads the list of players with direct entry into the tournament's main table, which includes three other Portuguese players – Henrique Rocha (364th ATP), Jaime Faria (517th) and Duarte Vale (562nd).
